Turbo Pistons – Useful Energy Converters
Upgrading with attention to detail makes 1.8T tuning so special, as there are hardly any elements of the vehicle's internals that can't be replaced with more powerful versions from our range. One of these is the so-called piston – a movable part of the combustion chamber. Its primary function is to convert the energy of the fuel into motion. The size of the turbo pistons is often underestimated, yet these robust parts generate enough rotational movement to drive the wheels of the vehicle. High-performance turbo engines require enormous stability due to the demanded ignition pressures, which is why some models are "forged". Hence the term "Forged Pistons", which can be found in our selection of high-quality components.
On the piston itself, there are several grooves where so-called piston rings are mounted. Among other things, acting as oil scrapers, they are usually protected from twisting by locking pins. In addition, piston rings serve the purpose of dissipating the heat of the combustion process, which is absorbed by the piston. In our assortment, you will naturally find all the necessary parts required for the installation of the 1.8T turbo pistons. Depending on the product, the scope of delivery includes JE Pistons along with rings, pins, and clips. Suitable for models like Golf 4 1.8T, Audi A3 1.8T, Audi A4 1.8T, Audi A6 1.8T, Seat Leon 1.8T, or even Passat 1.8T, these turbo pistons are suitable for various car types.
With Piston Power to Propulsion
A piston must be stable, that much is clear. The reason why our 1.8T pistons are particularly resistant lies in the various forces that act on the elements. When the engine is in operation, the piston in the cylinder is subjected to continuous movement. Each at the reversal point is then a deceleration and then acceleration again – creating a pressure, the so-called inertial mass, that presses on the piston. Gas pressure and inertial mass are then collectively referred to as piston force. The generated energy drives, among other things, the crankshaft and also the wheels of the vehicle.
A piston is generally a round construction made of metal, whose function lies in compressing the fuel-air mix. At the ignition of the mix, a short, explosive combustion is generated, and the piston is shot downwards. For this process to work flawlessly, an exact fit is necessary. To achieve the best possible pressure, you should therefore compare the dimensions of our pistons with the required data of your vehicle.
