Turbochargers

The heart of the 1.8T, besides the engine, is the turbocharger. We offer various upgrade turbochargers such as the K04-015 with a larger compressor wheel, turbine wheel, and reinforced actuator plug and play, because weaker actuators cannot maintain the boost pressure at a certain level and begin to flutter; therefore, stronger actuators are needed. As a rule of thumb, from an opening pressure of 0.5 bar, the actuator can realize a holding pressure of about 1.3 bar and then starts to flutter. With this, up to 300hp are possible. The turbocharger is hardly visually distinguishable from the original. We carry original Borgwarner as well as our own brand "Turbo-parts.de" which we have been successfully selling for over 13 years. These are all finely balanced and have a long lifespan. For the turbocharger to get enough exhaust gases, a suitable exhaust manifold is required. Here again, we offer upgrade manifolds with a larger pipe cross-section that can be simply swapped out with the original manifold. For conversions with universal turbos e.g., GT28 Turbo or GT30 etc., a manifold with the matching flange T25 or T3 is needed, which we also have in our program. If your exhaust housing for your original turbo or upgrade turbo is cracked/damaged, you can also purchase it from us.

Just having the turbocharger is not enough. Naturally, the surrounding parts also need to be changed to extract optimal performance from the engine.

Exhaust Technology

To generate as little back pressure as possible, downpipes with a larger diameter e.g., 76mm are needed, to relieve the turbo and reduce back pressure. We also offer these with TÜV certification and with 200 cell or 100 cell sports catalytic converters.

To achieve a resonant sound and to allow sufficient exhaust gases to escape, we have various sports exhaust systems usually from Simons in Sweden with EU approval, meaning they do not need to be registered and can be legally used on the road.

Intake

With upgrade turbos or power-boosted engines, the original intake hoses often collapse leading to a loss of power. We offer reinforced silicone hoses e.g., intake hoses or boost pressure hoses that withstand the power. To achieve more airflow, sport air filters and larger intake manifolds ensure optimal ventilation. Blow-off valves, also known as Pop-Off or SUV, are essential for the 1.8T as they must also be closed, otherwise, the MAF sensor is missing the air diverted into the atmosphere during the calculation. Therefore, open valves are not suitable for the 1.8T with the original fuel injection system.

Power Transmission

To transfer the power to the road, sports clutches are essential. We have complete kits with a single mass flywheel, pressure plate, organic clutch disc, and release bearing that are also roadworthy; sprung sintered metal plates are also suitable for the road, only unsprung ones are more recommended for motorsport.

Cooling

To get cool air into the engine, a larger intercooler kit or an upgrade intercooler is needed, as cooler air is denser and contains more air mass which again leads to more power. Especially noticeable in summer or during long motorway drives. For conversions with replacement turbochargers, other oil- and water lines are also needed.

Engine Technology

To enable the engine to withstand certain performances, forged pistons are installed. We have had good experiences with JE Pistons and Wiseco.
