The functionality is quite simple:

In the closed state, exhaust gases are directed through the muffler; when the flap is open, a portion goes through a continuous pipe, making the exhaust louder. The vacuum-controlled flap is closed in the vacuum area, opening as the vacuum decreases or enters overpressure in turbo engines. A hose is laid from the intake manifold to the vacuum canister of the flap, or the flap is regulated via remote control or switch. A pulse valve is installed in the hose.
