- water-cooled intercooler made of aluminium
Technical Data:
- Connections 89mm for intercooler pipes
- one straight connection on the side
- External dimensions: L 42 x W 40 H 11.5 cm
- Core dimensions: L 25 x W 23 x H 11 cm
- Water connections 1/2 inch
- Designed for up to 5 bar boost pressure
- The water cooling reduces the intake air temperature by more than 30°C compared to conventional intercoolers. This results in an increase in performance of 10% at the same boost pressure.
- The intercooler is supplied without mounting parts. An additional water circuit with pump and cooler (e.g. 19-row oil cooler) is required.
Suitable for:
- Turbo engines up to 1000PS
Description:
The water-cooled intercooler is installed between the turbocharger and the intake manifold. The goal of an intercooler is to cool down the hot air that is compressed by the turbocharger. By cooling down the compressed air, a higher mass of air can enter the combustion chamber at the same volume, allowing more fuel to be burned, resulting in increased power and efficiency. The lower the intake air temperature, the lower the thermal load on the engine and the turbocharger, as the turbocharger requires less RPM to achieve the same mass of air. Fuel consumption is also reduced and the engine achieves slightly improved exhaust emissions, provided that the engine control unit is adjusted accordingly. For water-cooled intercoolers, it is important to use a large water cooler with a pump. These coolers can be used for turbocharged diesel and gasoline engines. When selecting an intercooler, care should be taken not to choose one that is too large for the engine, as this could negatively affect response. However, it should also not be too small. The water-cooled intercooler offered here is made entirely of aluminium with cast housing and has a bar and plate core, making it ideal for motorsport and tuning. Each intercooler is tested up to 5 bar before delivery.
