But why the turbo?

From this, the simple equation can be formulated that more revolutions lead to more power, but also a reduced lifespan results from this process. And this is exactly where the turbo comes into play. The compressor in the turbocharger's intake tract is connected by a shaft with a turbine. It sits where the exhaust flow passes, so that these exhaust gases can drive the exhaust gas turbine, which in turn acts as the drive for the compressor. Simply put, this pushes the intake air further into the cylinders, which goes hand in hand with a larger volume of fuel with an optimized filling level.
