The Garrett GT and GTX series are all dual ball bearing, precision balanced and oil and water-cooled. There is also the older generation T series which are mostly sleeve bearing. The GTX series differs from the normal GT in that they have a special, larger compressor wheel with more blades leading to increased performance and slightly better response. It is important for the ball bearing turbochargers to not receive too much oil pressure. Therefore, an oil restrictor  with a 0.9mm bore is used. A ball bearing turbo responds approximately 400-500 RPM sooner than a sleeve bearing turbo.
