The Garrett GT and GTX series are all double ball bearing, precisely balanced, and oil and water cooled. Theres also the older T series, which are usually sleeve bearing. The GTX series is distinguished from the regular GT by having a special, larger compressor wheel with more blades, which results in increased performance and slightly better response. It is important for ball bearing turbochargers not to receive too much oil pressure. Hence, an oil restrictor  with a 0.9mm hole is used. A ball bearing turbo typically responds about 400-500 RPM sooner than a sleeve bearing turbo.
