In addition, the Garrett GT and GTX series are all double ball bearing, finely balanced, and oil- and water-cooled. The genius of this system comes into play during the redirection of exhaust gases back into the intake air. Normally seen as an emission of no further concern for the vehicle, the turbo utilizes this very energy to drive a turbine. On the same axis, one also finds the so-called compressor wheel, which draws in fresh air and, as the name suggests, "compresses" it. Compared to naturally aspirated engines, the cylinders are measurably better filled by the compressed air, benefiting both driver and vehicle from optimized engine performance. On the flip side, the use of a turbocharger also shines with a lower consumption – good for the environment and your wallet.
