Turbochargers

The centerpiece of the 1.8T, alongside the engine, is the turbocharger. We offer various upgrade turbochargers like the K04-001 with a larger compressor wheel, turbine wheel, and reinforced actuator plug and play, as weaker actuators cannot maintain the boost pressure at a certain level and start to flutter, therefore stronger actuators are needed. As a rule of thumb, from an opening pressure of 0.5 bar, the actuator can hold a pressure of about 1.3 bar and then starts to flutter. This allows for up to 300HP. The turbocharger looks almost identical to the original. We have original BorgWarner in our range as well as our own brand "Turbo-parts.de" which we have been successfully distributing for over 13 years. These are all finely balanced and have a long lifespan. For the turbocharger to receive sufficient exhaust gases, a correspondingly large exhaust manifold is needed. Here we once again have upgrade manifolds with a larger pipe cross-section that simply replace the original manifold. For conversions with universal turbochargers e.g., GT28 Turbo or GT30 etc., a manifold with the appropriate T25 or T3 flange is needed, which we also have in our program. Just having the turbocharger is not enough. Of course, the surrounding parts must be changed as well to extract the optimum performance from the engine.

Exhaust Technology

To generate as little exhaust back pressure as possible, Downpipes with a larger diameter e.g., 76mm are needed, to relieve the turbo and generate less exhaust back pressure. These are also offered with TÜV approval and with 200-cell or 100-cell sport catalytic converters.

To achieve a rich sound and also to allow sufficient exhaust gases to escape, we have various sports exhaust systems usually from Simons in Sweden with EG approval, meaning they do not need to be registered and can be used legally on the street.

Intake

With upgrade turbochargers or engines upgraded for performance, the original intake hoses tend to collapse, leading to a loss of power. We offer silicone hoses reinforced with woven fabric for intake hoses or boost pressure hoses that can withstand the power. To achieve higher airflow, sports air filters as well as larger intake manifolds are crucial for optimal ventilation. Blow-off valves also known as Pop-Off or SUV are essential for the 1.8T; they also have to be closed, otherwise the air mass meter lacks the calculation of the air diverted into the atmosphere.
